The Role


The Merchandise Planner will play a key role in shaping product and financial performance across assigned categories. Working closely with cross-functional teams, they will develop balanced assortment strategies, manage inventory investments, and support both pre-season and in-season planning initiatives.


This individual will use sales trends, financial data, and customer insights to guide strategic decisions that maximize revenue, improve margins, and enhance overall product performance. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining analytics with commercial thinking in a fast-paced retail environment.


The Responsibilities:

  • Analyze sales performance, inventory trends, and product data to support future business strategies
  • Monitor and deliver against key financial metrics including revenue, margin performance, and markdown targets
  • Manage category-level Open-to-Buy budgets, receipt planning, and inventory flow
  • Create assortment strategies aligned with seasonal trends, product lifecycles, and customer demand
  • Lead recurring business reviews and present insights, performance summaries, and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Develop pricing and promotional markdown strategies to optimize sell-through and profitability
  • Translate high-level assortment plans into detailed item-level and lifecycle strategies
  • Collaborate closely with merchandising, allocation, and product intelligence teams to execute category objectives
  • Support ongoing planning initiatives tied to omni-channel retail growth and operational transformation


The Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • 1–3 years of experience in merchandise planning, allocation, or retail planning environments
  • Must have experience with Open-to-Buy (OTB) strategy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable interpreting large data sets and identifying actionable insights
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Interest in retail trends, inventory strategy, and financial planning
