A pioneering, Australian-owned engineering business headquartered in Eagle Farm, Brisbane, this organisation is at the forefront of high-voltage connector technology — commercialising a world-first product range certified for use in hazardous and explosive environments. With a growing presence across mining, defence, naval, oil and gas, renewables and heavy industry, and partnerships with globally recognised organisations, this is a business with serious commercial momentum and a compelling product story. This hire is a direct response to accelerating product development activity and the need for a capable engineer to take end-to-end ownership of the electrical engineering function as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high voltage electrical systems and components across both current and future product ranges, ensuring safety, performance and reliability standards are met
- Lead design for manufacturability (DFM) activities, optimising small equipment designs for scalable, repeatable production
- Maintain and develop engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation to a professional standard
- Support product testing, validation and quality assurance activities for electrical components and connector assemblies
- Contribute to certification and compliance processes including ANZEx, IECEx, AS/NZS and IEC standards relevant to the business and its markets
- Liaise with external suppliers, manufacturers and testing bodies on component specifications, materials and technical requirements
- Contribute to intellectual property development and product innovation as part of the ongoing engineering roadmap
- Provide engineering input and recommendations directly to the CEO on product design decisions, technical risk and development priorities
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Four to seven years of post-graduation electrical engineering experience with demonstrable hands-on product design exposure
- Current RPEQ (Electrical) registration or eligibility to obtain registration in the near term
- Proven experience in high voltage electrical system design
- Demonstrated experience designing small electrical equipment with consideration for mass manufacture and scalable production
- Working knowledge of AS/NZS and IEC standards frameworks
- Ability to work autonomously with a high degree of ownership and accountability in a lean, growth-stage environment
- Background in mining, oil and gas, defence or other high-hazard industries (desirable)
- Practical experience with ANZEx and/or IECEx certification processes (desirable)
- Exposure to connector systems, cable assemblies or electromechanical product design (desirable)
- Experience contributing to IP development or product commercialisation (desirable)
Why Join?
This is a genuinely rare opportunity to step into a sole-contributor engineering role with direct access to the CEO and real influence over the product and technical direction of a growth-stage business. You will not be a cog in a large machine — you will be the engineer. The product itself is world-first, certified for some of the most demanding environments on the planet, and already in market with a strong pipeline behind it. For the right engineer, this role offers the kind of professional scope and autonomy that is almost impossible to find inside a larger organisation. With RPEQ support on offer and a clear pathway toward team leadership as the business grows, the upside here is tangible.
