The Role:

On behalf of this innovative technology firm, an experienced Senior Ruby Developer is sought to lead the development of a world-class Ruby SDK generator. This role goes beyond traditional software engineering; it defines what excellence looks like in modern Ruby SDKs.

The successful candidate will shape how generated Ruby libraries feel—idiomatic, readable, and trusted by developers. From building core components of an open-source compiler to introducing advanced capabilities such as auto-pagination and server-sent events, this individual will directly impact thousands of end users. The role also involves engaging with the broader Ruby community and mentoring engineers as the team scales.

Responsibilities:

• Lead development of the Ruby SDK generator and related tooling
• Define Ruby best practices and establish high-quality SDK standards
• Own core components of the open-source compiler
• Implement advanced SDK capabilities and performance improvements
• Collaborate with leadership on technical direction and hiring
• Engage with the Ruby community through GitHub and forums
• Contribute to architectural decisions across a modern cloud stack (AWS, Postgres, microservices)

Requirements:

• 3–10 years of software engineering experience with deep Ruby expertise
• Demonstrated Ruby proficiency through open-source work, blogs, or conference involvement
• Strong understanding of developer tooling and API design
• Experience in startup or high-growth environments preferred
• Ability to write clean, idiomatic, production-grade Ruby
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
