Business Development Manager
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Apply for this job

You know how to open doors, earn trust and turn a first conversation into a commercial relationship. This is an opportunity to put that ability to work in a specialist IT consultancy, with your own Victorian territory and direct support from the Managing Director.

White Bay is partnering with an award-winning Australian consultancy that helps enterprise, government and mid-market organisations improve the reliability of their IT environments. With more than 340 projects across 155 organisations, the business has built a strong reputation in monitoring and observability and is expanding into broader digital resilience.

The opportunity

You’ll take over Victoria from an established salesperson who is focusing on other states. There are existing relationships to build on, alongside plenty of scope to generate new business.

You’ll work closely with the Managing Director and technical specialists, who support discovery, solution design and scoping. Your role is to create opportunities, understand what matters to clients and keep deals moving through to close.

What you’ll do

  • Generate new business through targeted outreach, networking, referrals and partner relationships.
  • Build relationships with IT, infrastructure and business decision makers.
  • Develop existing accounts through additional services and longer-term engagements.
  • Own opportunities from first contact through qualification, proposal, negotiation and handover.
  • Bring technical specialists into conversations at the right time.
  • Maintain an organised pipeline, accurate forecasts and consistent follow-up.

What you’ll bring

You may already sell IT consulting, managed services or technology solutions. Alternatively, you could be a successful recruiter or outbound salesperson ready to move into technology services.

We’re looking for evidence that you can create your own opportunities, handle rejection and build relationships that lead to business. You’ll be curious, commercially minded and comfortable listening closely before offering a solution.

Existing monitoring or observability knowledge is useful, but technical expertise can be developed. Initiative, follow-through and the ability to earn a client’s confidence are essential.

Why consider it?

  • Ownership of the Victorian territory within a growing specialist business.
  • Direct access to the founders and experienced technical support.
  • Home-based flexibility, with regular opportunities to meet clients.
  • An existing customer foothold and room to build your own portfolio.
  • A commission structure that rewards performance, with new business accelerators.
  • Phone, internet and reimbursed business expenses.

You’ll need to be based in Victoria and able to meet clients across the territory.
