Civil Inspector - Compressor Station Projects
Duration: 1 year, December 2025- December 2026
Location: Minnesota
Job Summary: The Civil Inspector is responsible for overseeing and inspecting the civil engineering aspects of compressor station projects. This includes monitoring and ensuring compliance with project specifications, regulations, and industry standards related to earthwork, grading, erosion control, and site restoration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and drawings related to civil engineering components of pipeline construction.
- Conduct on-site inspections to monitor and ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Inspect and verify the quality of earthwork activities, including excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling operations.
- Monitor and ensure proper implementation of erosion and sediment control measures, such as silt fences, detention ponds, and slope stabilization techniques.
- Inspect and verify the installation and functionality of temporary and permanent drainage systems, culverts, and water crossings.
- Coordinate with survey crews to ensure accurate staking and layout of pipeline right-of-way and associated civil infrastructure.
- Conduct material testing and sample collection as required, such as soil compaction tests, concrete strength tests, and aggregate gradation analyses.
- Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, documenting work progress, deficiencies, and any corrective actions taken.
- Communicate and coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other inspectors to address issues and ensure project compliance.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and final inspections.
- Ensure proper site restoration and revegetation activities are carried out in accordance with project requirements and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil engineering inspection or construction, preferably with compressor station projects.
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials testing procedures.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards related to pipeline construction (e.g., OSHA, DOT, FERC, API).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and coordination with project teams.
- Proficiency in using inspection equipment and tools, such as surveying instruments and material testing equipment.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., NICET, ACI, NACE) preferred.
