Certified Welding Inspector - Facility Operations


Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) for long-term employment supporting facility operations. This role involves inspection, testing, and quality assurance of welding operations across manufacturing and maintenance facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and non-destructive testing of welded joints and structures
  • Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications
  • Inspect welding equipment and work environments for compliance
  • Document inspection results and identify non-conformances
  • Interpret welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API)
  • Provide technical guidance to welders and fabrication teams
  • Inspect structural welding for facility modifications and maintenance
  • Oversee welding activities during equipment installation and repairs
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA safety standards and company policies
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on welding-related work


Required Qualifications

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • Minimum 5 years of welding inspection experience in industrial facilities
  • Knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW)
  • Experience with structural steel, piping systems, and pressure vessels
  • Proficiency in visual inspection and NDT methods
  • Familiarity with welding codes (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104)
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • Physical ability to work in various environments and lift 50 pounds


Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree in welding or related field
  • Experience in manufacturing or petrochemical environments
  • Supervisory or training experience
