LOCATION: San Leandro, CA

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time; ON-SITE

COMPENSATION: $75-175k

About the Job

The Mechanical Engineer will contribute to the design, analysis, and fabrication of mechanical systems supporting pulsed power and fusion technologies. This hands-on role requires proficiency in CAD modeling, structural analysis, and design for manufacturability.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks or equivalent software.
  • Create engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Perform structural analysis using FEA tools and verify results with hand calculations.
  • Participate in design reviews and prototype development.
  • Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to ensure mechanical-electrical integration.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, and testing of prototype systems.
  • Travel as required to test sites or partner facilities.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of CAD design experience (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience creating engineering drawings and documentation.
  • 1+ year of experience performing FEA analysis and verification.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed.
  • Must meet U.S. export compliance requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible under ITAR).


Preferred:

  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Familiarity with data management systems.
