Meet The Cause Church
The Cause Church is a welcoming Christian community focused on helping people know Jesus, build meaningful relationships, grow in their faith, and discover their God-given purpose. Located in Brea, California, The Cause Church began in 2005 and has grown into a church serving people of all ages and backgrounds. With a strong emphasis on biblical teaching, worship, discipleship, small group community, and outreach, the church encourages people not only to follow Jesus but also to serve others and make a positive difference in their community and beyond. At its heart, The Cause Church is about creating a place where people can belong, grow spiritually, and live out their faith with purpose.
About the Youth and Young Adults
The Youth and Young Adults Pastor at The Cause Church will join a growing church with significant momentum and two compelling ministries to lead. This is an opportunity to help students and young adults encounter God, become grounded in His Word, and live with purpose and a faith of their own.
Cause Youth combines energetic worship gatherings with intentional discipleship, helping middle and high school students develop hearts on fire for Jesus. With more than 30 volunteer leaders, the ministry offers a strong foundation for building relationships, developing student leaders, and equipping students to boldly share Christ’s truth and love.
Cause Young Adults is a rapidly growing community of approximately 18–28-year-olds seeking God, enjoying life, and growing together with Jesus. Through weekly worship and meaningful relationships, the ministry helps young adults deepen their faith, discover their gifts, and pursue God’s purpose in a formative season of life.
The Cause is seeking a passionate, Spirit-led pastor who communicates Scripture with conviction and relevance, develops strong teams, and cultivates worship, belonging, and spiritual growth across both ministries. Through relationships with schools, families, and the surrounding community, this leader will expand their reach and empower students and young adults to serve and share Jesus in everyday life.
For the right leader, this is an opportunity to build on strong foundations, nurture growing momentum, and raise up a generation that knows God, loves His Word, and lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Young and Young Adults Pastor responsibilities include:
Multi-Demographic Leadership & Vision
- Oversight of Three Ministry Tracks: Directing the ministries for Middle School (7th–8th grade), High School (9th–12th grade), and the rapidly growing Young Adults (YA) group (approximately 18yr to 28yr olds).
- Outreach vs. Discipleship Balance: Implementing a healthy programmatic mix where fun, high-energy events are used strategically to welcome new students, while deep spiritual growth is facilitated through intentional small groups.
Shepherding & Developing Leaders
- Shepherding the Shepherds: Recruiting, discipling, and encouraging the 30+ volunteer leaders (currently 8 in Middle School and 22 in High School). This involves following up with volunteers and equipping them for growth in discipleship and leadership.
- Supervising Direct Reports: Managing and developing 1 or more direct staff reports, which includes youth administrative and ministry support staff.
- Student Leadership Development: Develop and implement a Student Leadership Program, giving students ownership and ministry representation.
Teaching, Preaching, and Discipleship
- Practical Biblical Teaching: Delivering practical, engaging, and biblically accurate teaching for youth services. Lessons must strike a balance between deep biblical study and relevant, everyday life application.
Administration & Collaboration
- Budget Management: Overseeing an annual departmental ministry budget of approximately $100,000.
- Transition Pipeline Collaboration: Working closely with other departments—especially the Children's Pastor —to build a seamless spiritual pipeline for students graduating into youth ministry, while also championing high schoolers to serve in kids' ministry or other ministries within the church.
- Theological & Cultural Guardrails: Ensuring all programming and curriculum align with the church’s belief that the gifts and work of the Holy Spirit continue to be active and available to believers today, its egalitarian view of women in leadership, biblical view of marriage, sexuality and gender, and the mission, beliefs, and culture of The Cause Church.
- Boundary Management: Putting in the hard work required in a high-performing, fast-paced staff environment while maintaining healthy personal, marriage, and family boundaries.
Follow, connect, Grow, and Serve
- Helping young adults encounter the presence of God through worship, prayer, and responsiveness to the Holy Spirit.
- Teaching the Word of God with depth and practical relevance as young adults navigate relationships, education, work, and significant life decisions.
- Cultivating genuine community and intentional discipleship that encourage spiritual maturity, accountability, and a daily walk with Jesus.
- Equipping and empowering young adults to discover their gifts, develop as leaders, serve the church, and share the truth and love of Jesus in their everyday lives.

- Demonstrated experience building and growing a youth ministry of 100+ students, with evidence of both numerical growth and spiritual fruit.
- Proven experience recruiting, training, developing, and leading a growing team of adult volunteer leaders and student leaders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Theological & Doctrinal Alignment: The pastor must have a thorough grasp of and full personal agreement with the church’s core theological stances. - Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Proficient in working alongside other staff members, particularly collaborating with the Children's Pastor to build a continuous spiritual pipeline from kids' ministry into youth and young adults.
Personal Characteristics and Qualifications
- Fruitfulness & Passion: An innate, deep passion to reach the next generation, backed by the entrepreneurial grit or "maverick" drive to break through plateaus and expand the youth ministries to their full demographic potential (target of 200–300 students each for Middle School and High School).
- High-Stamina Multitasking: The capacity to manage and multiplex across three distinct age demographics (Middle School, High School, and Young Adults) in a highly task-oriented environment.
- Humility & Teachability: Openness to executive coaching, working under executive and lead pastoral direction, and integrating into a tight-knit staff culture.
- Emotional Maturity & Integrity: Strong character, personal integrity, and the maturity to adhere to staff lifestyle guidelines.
- Relatability & Humor: An approachable, high-energy presence backed by a strong sense of humor and wit, which is essential for thriving in the existing staff culture and building trust with students and parents.
- Spiritual Maturity: Model a healthy and balanced spiritual lifestyle including daily Bible reading, worship, prayer, and tithing.
