About the Pastor of Worship Ministries
The Pastor of Worship Ministries serves as the main Worship Leader and “second face of the church” for the congregation. Additionally, the Pastor of Worship Ministries acts to supplement the pastoral staff through his availability for support to congregants in such ways as general pastoral counsel, officiating baptisms, funerals, or weddings as needed.
The Pastor of Worship Ministries serves to meet the leadership and executional needs of worship for Student Ministries.
The Pastor of Worship Ministries supervises and works with the Tech Director to meet the requirements of the Programming Team in creating in-house and live-streamed worship experiences that inspire, enable, educate, encourage, and challenge both believers and those who are seeking to explore and deepen their understanding of a relationship with Jesus. The Pastor of Worship Ministries, through the Tech Director, will utilize a variety of technologies and methodologies such as video imagery, stage lighting, pre-recorded musical tracks, set design/stage décor, various musical instruments, vocalist, and/or soloists.
The Pastor of Worship Ministries is a full-time salaried position involving a typical in-office work week of Sunday through Thursday with varied evening hours and special event times as needed.

The Pastor of Worship Ministries’s responsibilities include:
Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategy
- Serve as a “second face of the Church” to champion the mission, vision, values, and strategy of Cornerstone Church and the worship ministry.
- Provide leadership and vision for the worship ministry, including band, vocals, and tech ministry.
- Develop and implement strategies for regular spiritual transformation and growth for worship and tech team members.
- Collaborate with staff to provide contexts for growth in Biblical worship theology, worship leadership, and musical skill at all age levels.
- Recruit, train, and equip worship leaders, instrumentalists, and vocalists within the worship ministry, ensuring a team structure that allows each volunteer to serve twice per month.
- Organize and lead regular rehearsals for the band, vocalists, and technical support teams.
- Oversee the development and management of the Worship budget.
- Provide leadership and direct supervision to the Tech Director in meeting the tech needs of services.
- In conjunction with the Tech Director, oversee the development and management of the Tech budget.
Worship and Other Ministry Services
- In collaboration with the Programming Team, plan and execute worship services, including scheduling Worship Team and Tech Team volunteers, preparing music, and organizing rehearsals for all aspects of the worship ministries.
- Lead in Sunday morning worship at least 45 Sundays per year.
- Lead other segments of Sunday Service such as Communion, Guided Time of Prayer, Announcements, or other segments as needed.
- Provide coverage personally, or through coordinating others, for other ministry services such as baptisms, specific Men’s or Women’s ministry events, or other events as needed.
- Assist the Wedding/Funeral/Special Event Coordinator in meeting the tech and musical component needs of weddings, funerals, or other services as needed.
- Officiate Weddings, Funerals, and Baptisms as needed.
- Foster a healthy and enjoyable team environment, collaborating closely with worship volunteers, the Tech Director, and the Tech Team members.
- Oversee and equip the Student Ministries Worship Team on Wednesday nights. This would include:
- Collaborate with the Pastor of Student Ministries to plan and lead worship for the Student Ministry’s Wednesday Student Worship services, utilizing age-appropriate students as team members and co-leaders.
- Scheduling Worship Team and Tech Team volunteers, preparing music, and organizing rehearsals for all aspects of the Wednesday Student Worship service.
Pastoral and Office Staff
- Participate in staff meetings and other relevant ministry functions, including baptisms, prayer events, worship nights, and outreach events.
- Participate in the Teach Team by providing post-service evaluations and brainstorming for upcoming services.
- Participate in Programming Team meetings by providing input on the use of creative arts (lighting, video imagery, song selection, stage décor, worship team make-up, etc.) to accentuate and enhance the message.
- Provide pastoral counsel to worship and tech team members, as well as general congregants, as needed.
- Maintain a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with pastoral and office staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders.
- Inspire loyalty and respect among peers through effective leadership and encouragement.

What you bring
The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Pastor of Worship Ministries:
Education and Experience
- Biblical Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- Demonstrated 4+ years of experience in leading corporate worship for in-house as well as livestream settings over a multiple-service environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team of 10+ volunteers.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity and character consistent with Biblical leadership requirements.
- Exhibits leadership skills and a servant leadership style, fostering a team-oriented ministry.
- Shows a strong, consistent, growing personal commitment to Jesus Christ, evidenced in personal relationships and work ethic.
- Commits to a life of prayer and values the authority of scripture, pursuing personal and corporate spiritual growth.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Planning Center, ProPresenter, Ableton, Playback/Multi-tracks, use of click track, and Logic Pro.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong directing skills and experience in worship team development, alongside strong performance abilities both vocally and instrumentally.
- Must be proficient in leading from a melody instrument (piano, keyboard, or guitar) and exhibit excellent vocal skills.
- Demonstrated ability in creating and articulating multi-part vocal and instrumental arrangements.
- Demonstrated giftedness and spiritual fruit, with a capacity to use contemporary musical styles and creative arts to minister to God’s people and the broader community.
