Belmont Classical Academy is an independent K-12 school in the classical, Christian tradition. Belmont resides at the American Fork Community Presbyterian Church campus, including the 1879 sanctuary, education building, and grounds. In partnership with parents, Belmont helps each student acquire an education of the highest quality, pursue happiness, and become an influence for good in the world.


Belmont Classical Academy is an excellent fit for academically motivated college-bound students. Latin, a key part of the academic core, is taught in grades 2-12. Advanced Placement courses are offered in Latin, French, Chinese, English, and Calculus. Students are accepted into the Belmont High School program based on academic achievement and a demonstrated desire to cultivate the Belmont virtues: Caritas, Veritas, Actio (Love, Truth, Action).



About the Assistant Head of School


Belmont Classical Academy is searching for an Assistant Head of School to serve as a key administrative leader, working closely with the founder and Head of School, Jared Carman. As Belmont grows, adding this role is crucial to delivering on the mission for current and future families. The Assistant Head of School will be instrumental in student recruitment, admissions, onboarding, and retention. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, growth-oriented, and committed to the long-term vision of Belmont Classical Academy.



The Assistant Head of School's responsibilities include:


  • Collaborate with the Head of School and the existing leadership team to deliver on the mission, ensuring consistent content, methods, and culture as the school grows.
  • Uphold and promote the school's ecumenical Christian education philosophy, as the only full-curriculum, non-denominational K-12 classical school in Utah.
  • Serve as a primary strategic partner to the Head of School in advancing the school's mission and goals, prepared to act with full authority and ensure seamless operational continuity in the Head's absence.
  • Drive initiatives to increase student enrollment and improve retention, particularly in upper grades, and help strategize for future growth.
  • Foster a strong sense of community among parents and teachers, and contribute to the overall staff culture.
  • Create relationships with potential students and families, respond to inquiries, and follow up consistently with potential families.
  • Connect with new families and guide them through the admissions process.
  • Manage digital marketing, blogs, etc., effectively communicating to those currently enrolled and expanding the reach to potential students and families.
  • Be available in the classroom and office to support and guide:Teachers, as they implement classical content and methods, and as they strengthen culture as defined by the motto and Code of Conduct.
  • Families with questions or concerns.
  • Students who need discipline or an encouraging smile.
  • Participate in teacher meetings to support professional growth and maintain high expectations.
  • Ensure the school's distinctives, such as the 4-day school week, small class sizes, and classical, Christian curriculum (including Latin and prayer/bible study), are maintained and effectively communicated.

Education and Experience


  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • Enthusiasm for K-12 classical, Christian education, from the perspective of a parent, educator, or former student (administrative or teaching experience preferred)
  • Experience in a Classical school environment preferred
  • Experience in admissions, recruiting, or marketing preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Loves classical, Christian education (CCE).
  • Casts a vision to teachers, parents, and students of CCE's distinctives, including CCE's purpose, content, methods, and culture.
  • Builds community through on-campus parent involvement and off-campus activities.
  • Is proficient in admissions processes, including tours, responsive communication, record-keeping, and onboarding.
  • Understands sales and marketing strategies to effectively promote the school.
  • Is skilled in school administration, including student discipline.
  • Fosters a grace-filled, collaborative, and community-focused school culture.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with parents.
  • Embraces an entrepreneurial mindset to drive school growth and development.
  • Able to analyze and implement academic improvements (e.g., homework balance, AP courses).
  • Is highly organized in planning large-scale school events, including effective delegation and follow-up.
  • Works effectively with the Head of School and the existing leadership team.
  • Maintains a visible and available presence on campus.
  • Is adept at problem-solving with a solution-oriented and adaptable approach.
  • Actively embraces and promotes the school's ecumenical Christian identity.
  • Is willing to contribute directly to the classroom by teaching one class.
  • Learns quickly, particularly if transitioning from a different Christian school background.
