Cardiac Echo Ultrasound Technologist

A respected healthcare provider is seeking a skilled Cardiac Echo Ultrasound Technologist to join its diagnostic imaging team.

Operating in an environment that values clinical autonomy and minimal direct oversight, the Cardiac Echo Ultrasound Technologist utilizes advanced ultrasonic equipment to capture accurate anatomical, pathological, and functional cardiac data. In this position, you will perform high-quality diagnostic echo procedures, assist physicians with guided invasive interventions, maintain preliminary reporting, and ensure an exceptional, safe experience for every patient.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures applying prescribed Doppler, transthoracic, and specialized sonographic techniques
  • Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment controls according to target anatomy, depth of field, and specific examination protocols
  • Prepare detailed preliminary ultrasound reports and diagnostic impressions for reviewing physicians
  • Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided biopsies, invasive cardiac procedures, and contrast material administration
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients, addressing concerns and accommodating age-specific needs to ensure a safe, comfortable environment
  • Enter test parameters and patient clinical data into computer systems to maintain accurate electronic medical records
  • Perform routine equipment calibration, maintenance, and quality control monitoring to ensure diagnostic precision
  • Support department operations by assisting with patient transport, maintaining infection control/PPE standards, and mentoring new staff members
  • Preferred: Travel to alternate practice locations/markets in Houston, TX , every other month based on regional coverage needs (optional, not required)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Cardiac Ultrasound Sonographers; Bachelor’s degree is a strong plus
  • Certifications & Licensure:
  • Active Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential required (or registry-eligible with certification obtained within 1 year)
  • Active state licensure or permit to practice medical imaging (as required by state law)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience as an Imaging / Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist
  • Work Style: Proven ability to thrive under indirect management, demonstrating decisive judgment, critical thinking, and clinical autonomy in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical & Interpersonal Capabilities: Excellent customer service and active listening skills; ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving patients or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
