Automotive Technician – Diagnostics & Repair
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay Rate: $28/hr
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Automotive Technician to support maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of vehicles used in testing and daily operations. This role focuses on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for use. Experience with electric or hybrid vehicles is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics using scan tools and standard automotive software
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems (wiring, sensors, control modules)
- Diagnose and repair mechanical components including brakes, suspension, and drivetrain
- Support vehicle readiness for testing and daily use by completing repairs and maintenance
- Interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to identify and resolve issues
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
- Document repairs, findings, and work completed
- Collaborate with team members to resolve recurring vehicle issues
- Follow all safety protocols when working on vehicles
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and repair
- Basic understanding of vehicle electrical systems
- Mechanical repair experience (brakes, suspension, general maintenance)
- Ability to read service manuals and repair documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles (nice to have, not required)
- ASE certifications are a plus
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and vehicle communication systems
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training in automotive technology is a plus
- 2+ years of hands-on automotive technician experience preferred
Work Environment
- Hands-on role in a shop or test environment
- May require occasional overtime based on workload
