Test Engineer

Location: Hudson, NH

Pay: $28-31/hour

Long term contract to hire



The Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of systems, components, and equipment used in defense and aerospace applications. This role involves designing and executing comprehensive test plans, analyzing performance, identifying defects, and supporting continuous improvement efforts to ensure mission-critical technologies meet stringent industry and customer requirements.


Test Planning & Strategy

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers and project managers, to understand system requirements and specifications
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate performance, reliability, and compliance
  • Identify and prioritize critical test cases
  • Define test objectives, acceptance criteria, and success metrics

Test Development & Execution

  • Design and develop test procedures, protocols, and scripts for functional, integration, performance, and stress testing
  • Set up and configure test environments, equipment, and instrumentation
  • Execute tests and collect accurate performance data
  • Analyze results and document issues, anomalies, or failures
  • Troubleshoot defects and coordinate with engineering teams to resolve problems

Test Documentation & Reporting

  • Produce detailed test reports, including procedures, results, findings, and recommendations
  • Maintain organized documentation to support traceability and regulatory compliance
  • Communicate test status, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders, including engineering teams, program managers, and clients

Test Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate testing processes (e.g., Python, Shell scripting)
  • Develop automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and coverage
  • Evaluate and enhance testing methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Stay current with emerging testing technologies, standards, and best practices

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure testing activities comply with applicable safety regulations, quality standards, and industry requirements
  • Support compliance efforts related to defense and aerospace standards
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, customers, and internal teams to address compliance issues

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of test methodologies, development, and execution
  • Experience with test equipment and instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers)
  • Knowledge of defense and aerospace standards (e.g., MIL-STD, DO-178C, DO-254, AS9100)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C/C++
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • Prior experience in the defense and aerospace industry
  • Experience with automated test frameworks and scripting
