Field Service Technician – Armored Vehicles
Location: Anniston, AL
Contract: Long-term contract with potential for direct hire
Schedule: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM; 50% domestic travel
Compensation: $29.32/hour with optional medical, dental, and vision benefits
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to provide technical expertise for Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles (AMPV). This role encompasses mechanical, air-conditioning, hydraulic, electrical power management, automotive, fire control, weapons systems, remote weapons firing systems, and additional subsystems.
The ideal candidate will be able to identify and troubleshoot system faults, communicate findings, and recommend corrective actions to leadership. Responsibilities include traveling to military installations to perform vehicle fieldings, upgrades, modifications, inspections, repairs, services, and routine maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to military installations to perform vehicle fieldings, upgrades, inspections, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fire control systems.
- Read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Maintain detailed reports and records using computer systems.
- Utilize hand and power tools, oscilloscopes, digital volt/ohm meters, diagnostic software, lifting devices, and support equipment safely.
- Operate Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) for automotive, electrical, electronic, and fire control systems.
- Communicate effectively with leadership and peers regarding technical issues and corrective actions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in US Army Maintenance Systems or Dealer Management Systems.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow written technical work instructions, modification work orders (MWOs), and specifications.
- Computer literate (report writing, data management, word processing).
- Skilled in safe use of hand/power tools and lifting devices.
- Willingness to travel on short notice.
- Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) experience: 91M, 63T, 45T, 63M, 91A, 63E, 45E, 91P, 63D, 45D, 91B, 63B, 63S
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience with armored tracked vehicles
- Private sector experience in diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy equipment
Experience Requirements
Required:
- 3–5 years in a field service role, mobile mechanic, or heavy equipment/automotive technician
Preferred:
- 6+ years in field service or mobile diesel mechanic/dealership technician roles
- Experience in quality assurance and vehicle inspections
Education Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
- Private sector OEM training or ASE certifications
- Associate degree in Automotive Technology or Military Training
