Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Orlando, FL

Pay Rate: $27.00–$32.00/hr

Employment Type: Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality performance across a diverse supply base including electrical, mechanical, steel, rubber, and fabricated components. This role will focus on supplier development, corrective actions, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure incoming materials and components meet company standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong problem-solving ability, manufacturing experience, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management

  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance through KPI tracking, scorecards, and reporting
  • Lead supplier corrective actions using RCCA, 8D, and other structured problem-solving methods
  • Investigate supplier rejections, nonconformances, and containment actions
  • Drive supplier accountability and long-term quality improvements

Audits & Compliance

  • Conduct supplier process and product audits to verify compliance and reduce defects
  • Support supplier qualification, capability assessments, and documentation reviews
  • Manage supplier deviation requests and approval processes
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and internal quality standards

Product Validation & Launch Support

  • Execute First Article Inspections (FAI), acceptance testing, and ship authorization reviews
  • Participate in new product launch milestones and supplier readiness reviews
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve drawing, print, and specification issues

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze supplier quality data, trends, scrap, and rework metrics
  • Lead Kaizen and Lean improvement initiatives to improve quality and efficiency
  • Maintain and update Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and records

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Materials, Logistics, and Production teams
  • Provide quality support on the manufacturing floor as needed
  • Communicate risks, supplier issues, and resolution plans to internal stakeholders

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of supplier quality or manufacturing quality experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Required Skills

  • Strong root cause analysis and corrective action experience (RCCA, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PPAP, DFMEA, and APQP
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certification (CQE, CRE, CSQP)
  • Experience with welding procedures or validation
  • CMM or portable measurement arm experience
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience
  • Project management background
  • AWS certification or training
