Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire an Environmental Manager for our facility in Seymour, IN. We’re seeking a highly experienced and proactive person to lead environmental compliance and sustainability efforts at our engine plant site. This is a senior-level, hands-on role for someone with a strong environmental background, proven manufacturing experience, and a deep understanding of air and water regulations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and operational leader, capable of managing complex regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement across environmental systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with air permitting (Title V), water regulations, SPCC, stormwater programs, and waste management
  • Oversee RCRA hazardous waste and DOT hazardous materials compliance
  • Lead solid and hazardous waste management programs, including oversight of on-site wastewater treatment and contracted operators
  • Manage all required reporting to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Supervise a team of three direct reports (Environmental Analyst and two associates responsible for recycling and waste operations)
  • Drive sustainability projects and support long-term environmental goals for the site
  • Collaborate closely with HSE leadership and internal teams to align compliance and risk reduction strategies
  • Provide guidance on OSHA-related health and safety topics and support health & safety initiatives
  • Deliver site-wide environmental training to employees and promote a culture of environmental stewardship
  • Serve as the environmental subject matter expert for the site, supporting audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical expertise in risk assessments, hazard identification, and compliance gap analysis
  • Support daily health, safety, and environmental operations, including problem-solving for complex technical issues


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field)
  • 3-5 years of environmental experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong knowledge of air and water regulations, Title V, SPCC, stormwater, and hazardous waste
  • Experience with wastewater treatment systems strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with DOT compliance, RCRA protocols, and sustainability frameworks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing direct reports
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Hands-on mindset - candidates with backgrounds in engineering, technical trades, or mechanical hobbies (machinery, cars, shop work) are encouraged
  • Intermediate knowledge of industrial safety standards and risk controls

  • Engage employees in the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures
  • Provide technical expertise cross-functionally to improve hazard prevention, risk controls, and corrective actions
  • Lead training programs and internal communications to improve awareness of compliance and hazard prevention
  • Set targets and objectives for environmental performance, hazard prevention, and risk control systems
  • Evaluate and analyze site environmental and safety data to inform continuous improvement efforts
