Position: Mechanical Engineer

Position Description
This role is responsible for providing engineering production support for the transition of new designs to production and resolving issues encountered in the build process for production designs. Key responsibilities include:
- Generating new designs and solutions to meet technical, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Designing efficient interface components for integration of new products.
- Investigating and performing root-cause analysis of design issues arising during production and developing the associated change documentation to resolve those issues.
- Collaborating closely with a team of engineers and other specialists to resolve issues spanning structures, ballistics, mechanical, and logistics disciplines.
- Preparing presentations and variance documentation in response to production non-compliance issues to support vehicle sales.
- Performing trade studies or tolerance stack analyses during investigation support.
- Analyzing and interpreting design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and test results to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
- Creating and editing CAD models in PTC Creo, ensuring systems are designed for producibility.
- Designing and analyzing welded and bolted joints.
- Using finite element analysis tools and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Providing input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
- Preparing and delivering technical reports, papers, and presentations.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing testing issues with components, documenting test issues, and maintaining organized data logs.
- Working with suppliers to facilitate cost and quality improvements.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications.
**Please note: This role may require daily periods of on-floor support, walking between multiple locations throughout the day, and climbing in/on vehicles to assess issues.**
Skills Required
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; demonstrated ability to perform technical presentations.
- Self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and drives them to completion.
- Strong engineering analytical skills with experience in root-cause, corrective-action processes.
- Knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience using CREO or SolidWorks CAD tools.
Skills Preferred
- Knowledge/experience with technical drawings, models, and GD&T standards and applications.
- Experience with CREO or other CAD tools.
- Experience with tolerance analysis, trade studies, and FEA analysis.
Experience Required
- Experience designing, analyzing, and integrating technology into combat vehicles.
- Experience with solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems, preferably PTC Pro-E, CREO, or SolidWorks.
Experience Preferred
- Experience with tolerance analysis, trade studies, and FEA analysis.
- Experience with design of structures or vehicle applications in the defense industry.
- Experience communicating with customers.
- Experience with military standards and good manufacturing practices.
- Experience supporting production environments.
- Experience with drawings, models, and GD&T standards and applications.
Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering), with 2 to 6 years of engineering work experience.
