Machine Builder
Location: Novi, MI
Long term contract with benefits
$25-27/hr and OT eligible
Core Responsibilities
- Assemble & Integrate: Build custom automation equipment, robotic cells, and mechanical assemblies from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
- Precision Fitting & Alignment: Fit, align, and calibrate mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, and tooling to achieve optimal function and quality standards.
- Tool Utilization: Operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to ensure high-quality results.
- Troubleshooting & Collaboration: Partner with engineers, project managers, and electricians to resolve assembly challenges and optimize machine builds.
- Testing & Debugging: Conduct machine tryouts, performance testing, and debugging to validate equipment meets operational specifications.
- Process Improvement: Provide constructive feedback on design and process improvements throughout the build lifecycle.
- Site Support: Travel to customer sites (domestic and international) for installation, commissioning, and technical support.
- Workplace Safety: Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment, adhering to safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or Associate’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Technology preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or industrial automation.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting complex mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly practices, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and machine components.
- Skilled in machine alignment, fitment, precision measurement, and troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with automotive automation equipment assembly.
- Basic electrical wiring and pneumatic plumbing abilities.
- Familiarity with robotic systems, controls, and industrial automation integration.
- Ability and willingness to travel for on-site support and installation.
