Summary of Duties:
The service technician is responsible for performing a wide range of HVAC activities for commercial and residential customers. Customer based activities require an individual possessing trait such as decisiveness, initiative, tact, judgement, integrity, dependability, and the ability to communicate in a technically credible manner. Daily job stress will run from minimal to extreme based on varying factors such as weather, site consideration, time constraints, sales potential, travel requirements, and customer needs.
Duties Include:
· Assisting the operations manager in the planning, organizing, motivating, controlling of human and other resources in support of departmental jobs, assignments, sales and goals.
· Leading by example through ad hoc installation teams displaying timely, efficient and profitable completion of assigned jobs and tasks.
· Performing special or complicated installation activities without assistance, including performing periodic on-call duties as required.
· Training employees on installation related subjects and procedures.
· Conducting quality control inspections of installation jobs, monitoring the technical progress of newly assigned department employees.
· Conducting point of work sales of IAQ services, unit compressors, unit replacements, add-on’s service contracts, and developing lead referrals from the sales staff.
· Ordering all job materials and coordinating with the project managers for the timely delivery of same.
· Turn-key on-site management of all projects assigned to them including all facets of work, even those not being directly performed by them.
· Coordination with other trades on the projects without assistance to resolve minor problems, conflicts, etc.
· Performing related duties as directed by the operations manager.
Job Qualifications:
· Valid Michigan driver’s license
· Good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers’ installation instructions and to clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers and company personnel.
· Interest and initiative in maintaining his/her plumbing skills through a combination of self-study, corporate training, workshops and other development activities.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
· Ability to perform mathematical calculations
· Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
· Ability to use hand and power tools
Equipment used
Hand and power tools; heavy equipment, including forklift, trencher. Light truck or van.
