Location: Fort Bliss, TX

Pay: $35.22/hour

 50% travel expected. You will work between Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hood to start. Eventually this could lead to some international travel.

Position Overview

The Tracked Vehicle Mechanic provides field-level maintenance and repair support on tracked combat vehicles, including recovery platforms. This role supports military personnel by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring equipment readiness in accordance with applicable technical manuals and standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field-level maintenance and repairs on tracked combat vehicles (e.g., recovery platforms)
  • Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities alongside military personnel
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using technical manuals and diagnostic procedures
  • Interpret and apply technical data, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Provide technical recommendations and solutions in accordance with applicable standards and documentation
  • Operate as part of a Maintenance Assistance Team (MAT) under senior technical supervision
  • Mentor and support other mechanics as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and input data into computer-based systems as required
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet mission and operational requirements

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with field-level maintenance of tracked combat or heavy military vehicles
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to use computer systems for data entry, reporting, and documentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience performing maintenance on recovery vehicles or similar tracked platforms
  • Formal military maintenance training or recovery school certification

Required Experience

  • 4–8+ years of experience performing maintenance on tracked military vehicles or similar heavy equipment
  • Experience supporting field operations and working in austere environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • If prior military service, must have an honorable discharge

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Education

  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Prior military experience is a plus

Work Environment

  • Field-based role supporting military operations
  • Work performed in outdoor and operational environments under varying conditions
  • Must adhere to all safety and compliance requirements
