Maintenance Technician
Location: Coldwater, MI
Pay: 27-28/hour
long term contract to hire
Position Summary
Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or facility structures in good repair. Responsibilities may include welding, troubleshooting CNC machines, programming and troubleshooting robotics, PLC programming, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, as well as installing, aligning, and leveling new equipment.
Essential Functions
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools; reassemble equipment as needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure operational efficiency of machines and building systems.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts; check fluid levels; replace filters; and perform other routine maintenance tasks following checklists.
- Utilize tools ranging from common hand/power tools (hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches) to precision measuring instruments and electrical/electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install, and/or repair wiring, electrical/electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective action, utilizing blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to identify malfunctions.
- Maintain records of maintenance and repair work performed, including associated costs.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machine parts.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Plan and lay out repair work following diagrams, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematics.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Level and set up new equipment post-installation.
- Inspect used parts for dimensional accuracy with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring equipment.
- Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts and tools.
- Estimate repair costs.
- Support company and departmental business plans for health and safety goals.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with electrical and mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLCs.
- Ability to comprehend electrical ladder diagrams and motor control circuits.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with AIB Mitsubishi systems.
