Summary
The Test Technician performs testing, inspection, and troubleshooting activities to ensure products, equipment, or systems meet required quality, performance, and reliability standards. This role supports the product quality assurance process by executing established test procedures, documenting results, and collaborating with engineering teams to resolve issues and improve performance. Success in this position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct functional, performance, and reliability tests in accordance with established procedures and standards
- Perform inspections on products, equipment, or systems to verify compliance with specifications
- Set up, operate, and calibrate test equipment to ensure accurate measurements
- Record test data, observations, and results accurately and in a timely manner
- Identify defects, malfunctions, or deviations from requirements and document findings
- Troubleshoot technical issues and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to analyze results and support improvements
- Maintain test equipment, tools, fixtures, and work areas in proper condition
- Assist in developing and refining test procedures and processes
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Test Technician or in a similar technical role
- Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Proficiency with computer systems for data entry, analysis, and reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Technical Skills
- Experience using test and measurement equipment such as:
- Multimeters
- Oscilloscopes
- Spectrum analyzers
- Other electronic or mechanical test tools
- Understanding of quality control principles and practices
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
Work Environment
- Laboratory, manufacturing, or technical testing environment
- May involve standing for extended periods and handling equipment
- Requires adherence to safety and quality procedures
