Engineering Learning and Development Coordinator (Hybrid)


Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 4 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.


Job Location:

Warren, MI (hybrid role).  


Compensation:

Generally seeking $30.00/hr to $35.00/hr (depending on experience) to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to hire an Engineering Learning and Development Coordinator for our team in Warren, MI. This role supports Engineering development learning experiences by planning and supporting various learning activities that are offered by our company. In this role you are an individual contributor with subject matter expertise. You are responsible for aspects of learning transformation and / or operations at the business unit level. You will administer and implement all training programs in accordance with the business' initiatives and learning strategies adapting to changing priorities and operating environments as needed. This is all done by collaborating and interacting with our Learning Center of Excellence (COE), customers, and internal and external partners. The focus is on HR development processes.


Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Engineering learning events and platforms.
  • Coordinate the deployment of Engineering training strategy.
  • Coordinate with company facilities for classroom, building, and assets management for company in-person programs.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for reservations, event space and food services for in-person programs.
  • Collaborate with Head of Engineering, Program Mangers, and internal partners to deploy training strategy and/or detailed training plans.
  • Expert in Learning Management System (LMS) and Degreed to support field with usage/reports/partner with Global Team
  • Manage participant lists and schedule training events for virtual and in person training in response to organizational needs. Validate/process training record completions/rosters to LMS.
  • Gather, print, order, purchase instructional materials/supplies for learning events.
  • Establish and implement a facilities management process for all rooms, buildings, and assets that our company leverages to deliver in-person programs.


Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Business administration, or related field.
  • Experience: Worked in similar positions for at least 2 years (specifically in training); Project Management; and Event Planning.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to establish trust and credibility.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Prior LMS administration experience is strongly preferred.


Work Environment / Other Info:

  • This will be a day (1st) shift role – Monday to Friday. 2 days working remote (Monday, Friday), and 3 days from the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).  
  • This role will generally work 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime is possible but won’t be common. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.
  • Offer may be contingent upon a background check and a drug screen (drug screen will NOT include cannabis).
  • There may be occasional local travel on a rare occasion (but nothing outside of Metro Detroit).
