EMI/EMC Systems Test Engineer
About the Position:
The Defense industry is moving rapidly to embrace digital transformation, integrating advanced software and introducing state of the art features to our product lineup! This position requires dynamic individuals with EMI/EMC testing and Model Base systems engineering experience. This person’s primary responsibility will be conducting EMI/EMC Qualification testing on electronic assemblies used on military ground vehicles. And composing test plans/procedures and test reports IAW Data Item Description (DID) documents.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Perform EMI/EMC Qualification testing, IAW military standards.
- Perform EMI/EMC Design Verification Testing (DVT).
- Report progress. Conduct failure analysis when needed. Report findings and propose and perform simple design improvements.
- Compose EMI/EMC Qualification test plans/procedures and test reports, IAW MIL-STD Data Item Description (DID) documents. A large portion of the testing will be at the electric assembly level (closed box/LRU).
- Compose parts and equipment lists needed to perform test plans.
- Procure (and/or coordinate procurement) parts and equipment, track schedules and item locations.
- Revise test plans when lead times are too long and alternative items must be used.
- Review specification documents. Compare signals and functions to monitoring requirements.
- Review vehicle harness drawings and draft EMI/EMC test cable drawings and parts lists.
- Conduct and participate in work product peer reviews.
- Work in a team environment with other testers, test equipment designers and programmers, hardware engineers, harness engineers, procurement staff, and project managers.
- Document progress and issues. Prepare schedules and compose risks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or Physics. Other related degrees considered with appropriate experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Qualification testing. Military EMI/EMC experience preferred.
- Familiar with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464. Equivalent experience with commercial (CISPR) standards will be considered.
- Strong technical writing skills for plans, reports, presentations, and Customer deliverables (CDRLs). Experience with E3/EMI Data Item Description documents (DI-EMCS-8xxxx) preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- Ability to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles. Must pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space).
- Ability to move test items and harnesses on/off test tables. Ability to route and tape down cables. Able to clean and fasten to achieve electrical connections with less than 2.5 milliohms.
- Self-starter with motivation to learn EMI/EMC engineering skills and overcome obstacles within schedule and budget.
- Ability to work in a team environment and obtain cooperation from personnel in other organizations.
- Able to work overtime upon request.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to test sites/labs, attend meetings, and support EMI/EMC testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot test failures and lead design improvements to mitigate failures.
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens will not be eligible)
Preferred Requirements:
- Already holds US Security Clearance
- Experience working on ground combat vehicles
- iNARTE Electromagnetic Compatibility certification
- Capable of understanding and applying EMI/EMC design philosophy and concepts, analysis, and standards
- Experience in procuring test equipment and/or harness components, including Oracle and credit card purchases
- Experience with 1-wire diagrams, 2-wire diagrams, and assembly drawings for electrical assemblies and harnesses
- Familiar with opening and viewing designs in Teamcenter, NX, CREO, CATIA, and similar CAD software.
- Familiar with system requirement derivation/decomposition/allocation
- Familiar with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo
- Familiar with TEMPEST standards/requirements and RED/BLACK separation
- Familiar with electromagnetic simulation software
- Familiar with electronic degradation from gamma and neutron radiation
