Senior Scheduler (Ship Maintenance)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Scheduler to support ship maintenance programs. This role is responsible for developing and managing integrated schedules, analyzing resource requirements, and assessing project impacts across Operations, Program Management, Facilities, and Crafts.

This is a strong opportunity for a scheduling professional with shipyard experience to expand their impact in program planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated production schedules for new and existing programs
  • Build schedules from specification work items, including:
  • Sequencing
  • Predecessors and successors
  • Durations and key milestones
  • Determine, monitor, and adjust manpower requirements
  • Analyze project impacts on:
  • Budgets
  • On-time delivery
  • Resource availability
  • Apply DCMA scheduling standards and industry best practices
  • Recommend corrective actions such as:
  • Schedule revisions
  • Resource adjustments
  • Funding or work allocation changes
  • Collaborate with Operations, Program Management, Facilities, and Crafts to ensure alignment
  • Communicate schedule status, risks, and updates to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of scheduling outputs

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and data analysis)
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as:
  • Primavera P6
  • Deltek Open Plan
  • Microsoft Project
  • Ability to build and manage detailed, logic-driven schedules

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with:
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Word
  • Ability to:
  • Prepare and coordinate complex program schedules
  • Analyze schedule performance and project impacts
  • Develop solutions to moderately complex scheduling challenges
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with general direction and apply standard policies and practices
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and customers

Required Experience

  • 6+ years of scheduling experience in:
  • Ship maintenance or
  • Shipbuilding environments
  • Hands-on experience with schedule modeling tools (P6, Open Plan, MS Project, etc.)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting complex or large-scale government or defense programs
  • Familiarity with DCMA scheduling guidelines and compliance standards

Education

  • Associate’s degree or higher in a related field (Business, Engineering, Operations Management, etc.)

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to develop fully integrated production schedules from technical work specifications
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Scheduling logic and constraints
  • Resource loading
  • Critical path analysis
  • Capable of applying industry subject matter expertise to scheduling decisions
