Quality Inspector

Location: Chantilly, VA

Pay Rate: $19 to 22 per hour

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections throughout all stages of the manufacturing process, with a primary focus on Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspection activities. This role ensures that products, subassemblies, and components meet established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, solid technical inspection skills, and experience working within structured quality systems in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspection

  • Perform inspections of materials, components, and finished products in accordance with documented procedures and specifications
  • Verify compliance prior to release to production or shipment
  • Identify defects early and communicate findings to prevent downstream quality issues

Product and Component Inspection

  • Inspect PCBAs, fabricated mechanical parts, cables, and related assemblies
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using appropriate measurement tools and methods
  • Perform inspections of purged products as required
  • Monitor inspection equipment and ensure proper use and condition

Documentation and Reporting

  • Record inspection results in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or related systems
  • Generate non-conformance reports and defect documentation as required
  • Communicate quality issues and assist with corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection records for traceability

Qualification and Compliance Activities

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to support qualification of components and parts
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and part prints
  • Follow FOE/FOD prevention practices, ESD controls, and calibration requirements
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and workplace procedures

General Duties

  • Support manufacturing and engineering teams in resolving quality-related issues
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing Quality Control or Quality Inspection role
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems
  • Minimum 2+ years of PCBA inspection experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of cable inspection experience
  • IPC-A-610 certification (current or previous)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry
  • IPC-A-620 certification (current or previous)
  • J-STD or IPC-7711/7721 certifications (current or previous)
  • Knowledge of plating and conversion coating specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
