Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer supports the design, development, testing, fabrication, and fielding of highly complex military systems. This role involves hands-on electrical system design and analysis across a wide range of defense platforms, including combat vehicles, gun systems, and guided munitions. The engineer works under general direction from a project engineering lead and contributes throughout the full product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical and electronic systems and components
- Perform electrical system design and analysis for military applications
- Develop product specifications, models, simulations, and technical data packages
- Utilize modeling and analysis tools to support system integration and verification
- Create and maintain schematics, interconnect drawings, and interface control documents
- Perform circuit simulation and analysis (e.g., PSpice, LTspice)
- Evaluate vendor technologies, capabilities, and services for suitability and performance
- Support integration, verification, and fielding activities
- Communicate technical results and analysis clearly to internal teams and customers
Required Skills
- Ability to solve moderately complex engineering design and development problems
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design and analysis
- Experience creating, reading, and interpreting electrical schematics and interconnect drawings
- Ability to develop and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Experience with circuit simulation tools (PSpice or LTspice)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with military and commercial design standards
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, or LabVIEW
- Experience with programming languages such as C, C#, or LabWindows/CVI
- Working knowledge of OrCAD, Visio, and PCB schematic/layout tools
- Experience designing for high-EMI environments
- Systems engineering and manufacturing knowledge
- Knowledge of rechargeable batteries and battery management systems (BMS)
Required Experience
- Hands-on experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis
- Experience developing technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and technical analyses
Preferred Experience
- Design and integration of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for military systems
- Integration of FPGAs and development of electronic control logic
- Development and integration of power generation, conversion, and storage solutions
- Experience with ammunition handling and loading systems, including autoloaders and large-caliber rammer systems
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience
- OR
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience
