Role Summary
The Associate Propulsion Product Analyst supports the Product Management team in driving profitable growth of Propulsion and Performance parts. This role focuses on data-driven decision making, using advanced analytical skills and strong business acumen to inform pricing, inventory, and portfolio strategies across engines, transmissions, and related components. The role is on-site at least 3 times a week, or other frequency dictated by their manager, in alignment with GM’s hybrid work expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Data & Reporting
- Perform advanced Excel data manipulation to support daily and strategic decision making.
- Prepare backorder and availability reports, partnering with Supply Chain to understand root cause, workaround options, and recovery timing.
- Utilize Power BI dashboards and reports to visualize performance and communicate insights.
Product & Pricing Management
- Support pricing activities, including price setting, price changes, and competitive benchmarking.
- Contribute to parts business decisions by analyzing sales performance, retention periods, pricing, competition, and margin.
- Assist in engine/transmission core management, including dealer core returns, issue identification, and recovery recommendations.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to Product Managers to optimize portfolio performance.
Operations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Navigate and utilize sales and aftersales systems (electronic catalogs, parts systems, etc.) to retrieve and validate data.
- Report on meetings as required to share analyses, align stakeholders, and drive decisions.
- Communicate complex problems and analyses in clear, concise, and digestible formats for diverse audiences (field teams, leadership, Product Management).
- Partner with field teams and dealers to understand issues, gather feedback, and support resolution plans.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data cleansing, and large-data analysis.
- Familiarity with AI tools, to improve efficiency in building reports and communication.
- Demonstrated time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience in the automotive industry, such as with an OEM, supplier, or dealership.
- Ability to convey complex problems and analyses into clear, actionable information.
- Proven ability to work through ambiguity and pivot quickly as priorities or market conditions change.
- Strong customer-centric mindset, with decisions grounded in dealer and end-customer impact.
- Comfortable presenting findings to cross-functional stakeholders, and sporadically leading meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with GM CCA (Customer Care & Aftersales) processes, systems, or organizations.
- Working knowledge of powertrain systems, particularly engines, transmissions and performance parts.
