Candidate Requirements:
This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) to be eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B, TN, or other visas are not eligible for this role.
Job Location:
Phoenix, AZ (not far from Guadalupe, AZ).
Compensation:
$20.00/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. Regular overtime is expected to be available in this role.
Benefits:
- Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) – benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
- This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.
Overview:
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense, security, and aerospace company to hire a Material Handler for our Phoenix, AZ facility. This role supports uninterrupted production flow by efficiently moving materials throughout the manufacturing area and ensuring accurate inventory transactions. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to established quality standards, and the ability to work effectively in a moderate to fast-paced, repetitive environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and precision.
Responsibilities:
- Move, stage, and transfer materials to support production operations.
- Perform accurate inventory transactions for items received, stored, and issued to production.
- Maintain organized storage areas and ensure materials are clearly identified and properly handled.
- Support cycle counting, material audits, and ERP transactions (Oracle experience preferred).
- Follow established quality and safety standards while meeting production timelines.
- Complete required documentation, forms, and logs accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
Skills, Education, Experience – Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or stockroom environment, or completion of relevant technical schooling, or an approved equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
- High School Diploma or GED is required at a minimum.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Strong reading comprehension, written communication, and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Oracle) and cycle counting processes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow standardized work procedures.
Skills, Education, Experience – Preferred:
- Forklift certification (preferred).
- Prior experience working in a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
- This is a 1st (day) shift role working 4 10’s (typically Monday to Thursday, 10-hour days). Typical hours are 5:00am to 3:30pm.
- There may be occasional overtime available in this role. Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
- Offer may be contingent upon a drug screen (which would include cannabis) and criminal background check.
