Machine Tooling Design Engineer

$30-35/hr
Job Specialty: UG NX Tooling design (no product designers please)
Description
The Design Engineer sketches, designs, and checks engineering designs work per given design tool. The objective is to design products to perform effectively within the budget and schedule.
* Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager / Supervisor and/or Leader in conducting high level engineering assignments.
* Works as a team player with other departments.
* Attends or facilitates customer, vendor and internal reviews when required.
* Check all aspects of given tool design for intended use and cost effectiveness.
* Fields telephone calls from build suppliers and shop personnel for engineering problems and associated problems.
* Revises mechanical drawings when necessary.
* Ensures all As Builds and Non- conformances are updated on drawings.
* Logs in, files and maintains all component information and drawings per assigned project.
* Facilitates FMEA's/ERGO's at rough sketch and forty percent design completion phases.
* Understand and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
* Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
* Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Education
Associates degree (B. A.) from a two-year college or technical school; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Information
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years of experience with Siemens NX
• Experience in Powertrain assembly and or test equipment design
• Facility layout experience • Transport systems experience is a plus (not required)
• Transport pallet design experience is a plus (not required)
Key Responsibilities:
• Work primarily at the Fenton location (90%) with occasional local travel
• Designing special machine tooling and/or pallet tooling
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Project Engineer
• Willingness to work overtime as needed based on project demands
