Lead Fluid Power Technician
Location: Lake Orion, MI
Pay: $28-30/hour

What You’ll Do
- Lead Project Teams: Supervise and guide teams through the build phase of each project, working closely with Engineering during development and ensuring seamless transitions through debugging and final runoff.
- Project Planning & Coordination: Organize project schedules, manage costs, and verify materials are ready when needed. Keep your team informed on project workload, hours, and key milestones.
- Team Development: Assign and track tasks for team members, ensuring everyone’s skills are fully utilized. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback and coaching, and promote a positive, high-performance culture.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with all departments to resolve issues, implement cost-saving initiatives, and ensure clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Customer Service: Provide timely and professional service to both internal and external customers. Keep the Fluid Power Manager and Project Manager updated on project status, open issues, timing, hours, and budget matters.
- Process Improvement: Identify and drive best practices within the fluid power team to deliver high-quality results, on time and within budget.
- Technical Leadership: Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, install piping and hoses, and interpret blueprints and schematics. Share your expertise by training and mentoring team members.
What You Bring
- Experience:
- Around 10 years’ hands-on fluid power experience (vocational training a plus)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Expertise in:
- Schematic interpretation, pipe threading, and mechanical fittings
- Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
- Reading blueprints and understanding basic fluid power symbols
- Leadership:
- Proven ability to set direction, assign tasks, and hold team members accountable
- Experience providing training, mentorship, and constructive feedback
- Commitment to safety and maintaining quality standards
- Physical Requirements:
- Able to bend, kneel, climb ladders and onto/beneath machines
- Lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Willing to provide your own hand tools and toolbox
- Certifications:
- Willingness to obtain Forklift, Aerial Platform, Overhead Crane, and Lock Out Tag Out training after hire
- Travel:
- Able to travel up to 25%, occasionally including international trips
