Maintenance Supervisor
Contract: 12 months (likely extension or potential direct hire)
Location: Automotive Manufacturing Facility
Compensation: $45–$50/hour + PTO + optional benefits
Schedule Requirements

Must be open to all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

This is not a rotating shift, but flexibility across all shifts is required

Must arrive 30 minutes before shift start and remain 30 minutes after shift end

Monday–Friday schedule with weekend work required every other week

1st Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor will lead maintenance operations in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment supporting transmission machining and assembly operations. This role oversees skilled trades teams, coordinates equipment repairs, drives preventative maintenance execution, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of machining equipment, proven leadership experience in manufacturing maintenance, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and support operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise skilled trades and maintenance personnel in a manufacturing environment
- Support daily maintenance operations across transmission machining and assembly areas
- Respond to and coordinate resolution of equipment downtime and urgent maintenance issues
- Assign and direct work for electricians, millwrights, machine repair technicians, pipefitters, and toolmakers
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities

Utilize systems such as Maximo to track maintenance activity, equipment status, and downtime
- Partner with production and engineering teams to support operations and continuous improvement initiatives

Support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) and Lean Manufacturing practices
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across the facility
- Build, lead, and develop highly engaged maintenance teams
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to improve performance and effectiveness
- Support launch, pilot, and process improvement activities
- Participate in daily production meetings and communicate plant priorities
- Maintain accurate departmental documentation, records, and timekeeping responsibilities
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, responsiveness, and equipment reliability
- Support production goals through effective maintenance planning and execution
- Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Equipment & Environment
This role supports a variety of machining and assembly equipment, including:
- CNC machining centers
- Broach machines
- Gear machining equipment
- Industrial grinders
- Valve body machining systems
- Assembly line equipment
- Automated manufacturing systems
Candidates with strong machining and manufacturing maintenance backgrounds are strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 6+ years of maintenance, manufacturing, or automotive production experience
- Prior experience supervising maintenance or skilled trades teams
- Strong understanding of CNC equipment and industrial manufacturing systems
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience in automotive or heavy manufacturing environments
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to lead teams and build positive working relationships
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work all shifts and required overtime
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Transmission or machining operations experience
- UAW environment experience
- Familiarity with GMS (Global Manufacturing Systems) or Lean Manufacturing
- Experience with Maximo, Kronos, or similar systems
- Engineering degree or technical education background
