Global Supply Chain Group Leader
Position Summary
The Global Supply Chain Group Leader is responsible for optimizing the use of personnel, materials, and equipment within assigned areas. The role involves participating in training, developing, and evaluating hourly team members to build highly effective teams. This position plays a key role in leading manufacturing system processes and supporting launch and pilot activities. The Group Leader is accountable for meeting or exceeding production costs and quality standards while fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize utilization of personnel, materials, and equipment to achieve operational goals.
- Participate in the training, development, and evaluation of hourly team members.
- Lead the implementation of manufacturing systems and support launch/pilot activities.
- Meet or exceed production cost schedules and maintain quality requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees, labor representatives, and management.
- Maintain awareness of quality standards and department quality goals; leverage resources to resolve quality issues.
- Consistently administer organizational agreements and employment policies.
- Implement and follow systems to prevent the recurrence of known issues.
- Promote safe work practices; achieve targets for ergonomics, health and safety, and housekeeping.
- Motivate, coach, train, and develop employees to perform effectively using standardized methods.
- Ensure team members receive adequate job instruction training (JIT).
- Apply lean manufacturing/synchronous principles to achieve production schedules and requirements, emphasizing variation reduction, cost control, and productivity improvements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Group Leaders in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Education
- Associate’s and bachelor’s degree required, regardless of experience.
Experience
- Manufacturing supervisory experience is ideal.
- Experience working with labor unions is a plus, but not required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Six Sigma certification or knowledge is highly valued.
- Strong managerial courage.
- Experience with or knowledge of:
- Continuous Improvement Processes
- Machinery equipment, barring, hydraulics
- CNC systems (preferred)
