Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Manager to lead quality systems, reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across advanced engineering and manufacturing operations. This individual will partner closely with Engineering, Product Support, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy focused on product quality, process optimization, and operational excellence.

This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on product reliability, manufacturing performance, customer satisfaction, and organizational process maturity. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in quality engineering within robotics, semiconductor equipment, or other high-technology manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide Quality Systems and business processes
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Support, and Operations teams to drive end-to-end product quality initiatives
  • Analyze manufacturing and business processes using Lean methodologies and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to identify improvement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and corrective action systems
  • Drive root cause investigations, failure analysis, and 8D closure activities for systemic quality issues
  • Conduct internal and external audits, including supplier and factory audits
  • Monitor and analyze quality metrics including yield, QPPM, nonconformance trends, and scorecards
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects (CIPs) and operational excellence initiatives
  • Support troubleshooting and analysis of electrical and mechanical system failures
  • Prepare and present quality reports, benchmarking studies, and project status updates to leadership
  • Mentor and develop Quality Engineers while promoting continuous learning and technical growth
  • Interface directly with customers regarding quality deliverables, issue resolution, and program support
  • Support implementation of digital workflows, process automation, and quality system enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of direct experience in Quality and Reliability Engineering
  • Strong background in robotics, semiconductor equipment, or related high-tech manufacturing industries
  • Expertise in Quality Management Systems (QMS), quality improvement methodologies, and reliability engineering
  • Strong understanding of:
  • GR&R
  • HALT / HASS
  • F47
  • ESD / EMC
  • ISTA testing
  • Reliability modeling and apportionment
  • Experience performing root cause analysis, failure analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SEMI standards
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • MES or Digital Manufacturing & Design Technology (DM&DT) certifications
  • CQE and/or CRE certifications
  • Japanese language skills (written and verbal) are a plus
  • Strong negotiation, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred


Additional Information

  • Travel: Approximately 3–5% domestic and international travel required
  • Work Environment: 100% onsite in San Jose, CA
