Project Engineer – Mechanical

Location: Oshkosh, WI

Pay: $56-58/hour

Contract: 6 Months (through March 2026) — Extension Possible

About the Role

The Project Engineer – Mechanical leads engineering initiatives in the defense sector, focusing on cab structure and operator layout design for vehicles. You will manage teams, oversee projects, and deliver innovative, compliant engineering solutions from concept to completion.


Top Requirements

-     5+ years of current engineering experience

-     Associate’s Degree (preferably in Mechanical Engineering)

-     Proficiency in 3D CAD software: CREO or CATIA

-     Design and drafting experience: 2D & 3D models, BOMs (Bill of Materials)

-     Prior support of manufacturing or product design

“Homerun” (Preferred) Qualifications

-     Exposure to FEA (Finite Element Analysis) – a plus, not required

-     Strong background in CREO/CATIA with proven 3D modeling/drafting skills

-     Experience supporting vehicle or defense industry design projects

-     Hands-on experience managing Bills of Materials and engineering documentation

-     Experience with additional CAD systems beyond CREO/CATIA

Key Responsibilities

-     Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.

-     Plan, coordinate, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

-     Mentor team members, supporting their professional growth.

-     Develop and manage departmental budgets and forecasts.

-     Present and defend technical decisions to leadership and customers.

-     Collaborate across engineering, business, and supplier teams to address challenges and drive project success.

-     Ensure strict compliance with engineering standards, policies, and documentation practices.

-     Conduct advanced engineering calculations and investigations.

-     Prepare detailed plans, technical proposals, reports, and presentations.

-     Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation.

-     Provide production support with robust engineering analysis.

-     Drive continuous improvement in engineering procedures and recommend capital investments.

-     Communicate project goals and resolve technical issues efficiently.

-     Regular, dependable attendance required.

-     Perform other related duties as assigned.

Additional Required Qualifications

-     Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related field (Associate’s Degree with significant experience considered)

-     Eligibility to work in the United States (US Citizenship required)
