Location: Saginaw, MI

Pay: $24/hour

Shift: 1st Shift

Position Type: Long-Term Contract-to-Hire


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Machine Builder to join our team in Saginaw, MI. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently with minimal supervision, build and install automated equipment, and support projects from the manufacturing floor through customer installation. The successful candidate will have experience with automotive manufacturing equipment and be familiar with OEM standards for Chrysler, Ford, and GM.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, and install automated machinery and equipment according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Work independently on medium-complexity projects with minimal direction.
  • Assist project teams in troubleshooting and resolving build and installation issues.
  • Support equipment installation and startup activities at customer facilities.
  • Verify parts and assemblies conform to bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings.
  • Update E-BOM summaries weekly and communicate progress to the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Read and interpret project schedules and timelines to meet project deadlines.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform rigging and crane operations safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize basic welding skills as needed during equipment assembly.


Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and assembly skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Effective communication skills with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Basic understanding of geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and measurements.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for assembly tasks.
  • Regularly lift up to 10 lbs., frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to work at heights when required.
  • Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.



Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of machine building, mechanical assembly, or related experience.
  • Experience building equipment for automotive customers, including Chrysler, Ford, and GM.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Proficiency with rigging and crane operations.
  • Must provide own tools and required PPE.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality workmanship.


Education

  • Technical school certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
