ATF Machine Repair Technician — Level III

Position Overview
The ATF Machine Repair Technician — Level III is responsible for troubleshooting, assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems to ensure manufacturing equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational. This role requires advanced technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work independently while mentoring less experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Identify hazards, stop work when necessary, and model strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices
- Work safely around electrical and other energy sources in industrial environments
- Minimize environmental impact by managing energy use, waste, and emissions during maintenance activities
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance
- Perform skilled troubleshooting and mechanical repairs on complex equipment
- Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term solutions
- Schedule maintenance work in alignment with production requirements to minimize downtime
Quality & Craftsmanship
- Apply high standards of workmanship and follow technical documentation
- Ensure repairs and installations support product quality requirements
- Provide feedback to improve maintenance systems and procedures
Operational Excellence
- Solve equipment and process problems to remove manufacturing constraints
- Support uptime analysis and continuous improvement initiatives (including TPM)
- Complete machine layouts and installations as required
Leadership & Collaboration
- Coach, mentor, and support less experienced technicians and apprentices
- Serve as a technical resource for maintenance and production teams
- Communicate effectively with operators, engineers, and support staff
- Participate in cross-functional teamwork to support plant performance
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Significant relevant trade experience or specialized technical training
- May require licensing for export control or sanctions compliance
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and blueprints
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, including:
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Conveyance systems
- CNC equipment
- Industrial automation
- Understanding of safety controls (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic) and safe work practices
- Ability to implement equipment or process changes within a manufacturing environment

Minimum Trade Experience Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- At least 7 years of experience in a relevant trade field, or
- Journeyman Trade Certificate with relevant experience, or
- Associate (2-year) technical degree in a related field plus 3 years of machine repair or industrial electrical experience
Additional Requirements
- Ability to train, mentor, and guide apprentices
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production

Compensation & Benefits
Pay
- Approximately $38.70/hour base pay
- $2.29/hour shift premium for 3rd shift

- New hires receive a toolbox and all required tools
