Key Desk Clerk
Location: Allen Park, MI
Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 3:15 PM – 12:00 AM
Contract: Long-term (no end date) with potential for direct hire
Compensation: $21–$24/hour + PTO + Optional Benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Key Desk Clerk to support vehicle operations and logistics. This role serves as a central point of coordination between drivers, engineers, and customers, ensuring accurate key control, vehicle assignments, and daily reporting.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive environment, communicating with multiple stakeholders, and handling both administrative tasks and light vehicle movement responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer service support to drivers and engineers
- Retrieve and distribute vehicle keys for assigned vehicles
- Prepare daily test driver materials (keys, phones, route information, evaluation tools, and required equipment)
- Update customer systems with dispatched driver information and assigned equipment
- Complete end-of-day system updates including mileage and test data
- Perform daily key audits against vehicle lists
- Prepare test vehicles for return, including removal of any testing equipment and performing damage inspections
- Assist with moving vehicles as needed to support operations
- Complete company-required documentation and reports
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking indoors and outdoors within a shop environment
- Regular interaction with vehicles and drivers
- Occasional vehicle movement and staging
- Must be comfortable working in an active automotive setting

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of test driving experience
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Ability to drive a manual (stick-shift) vehicle
- Minimum 2 years of administrative experience
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and accurate data entry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of customer service experience
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as needed
