Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineer Technologist Principal to join our Naval weapon systems team in Louisville, Kentucky. The ideal candidate will challenge current operations and focus on improving all facets of machining processes across the site. The Engineer Technologist Principal will lead machining innovation across the Production Value Stream and be at the forefront of problem-solving and overcoming technical production barriers. This role ensures technical compliance to manufacturing processes, policies, and procedures, and delivers innovative solutions to cross-functional teams to improve customer delivery, cost, and schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic technical direction and guidance on complex projects, influencing technical decisions and ensuring alignment with business goals
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including design, quality, and production—to ensure seamless integration of machining processes
  • Develop new machining processes, improve existing ones, and create necessary tooling and fixtures
  • Identify and resolve complex technical issues related to machining processes, equipment, and product quality
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures throughout the machining process, including monitoring and final inspection
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for analysis, research, and historical records related to machining processes


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in a relevant technical discipline, such as engineering or technology
  • Proficiency in using Siemens NX software for design and programming of machining operations
  • Deep knowledge of various machining processes, equipment, tooling, and materials
  • Ability to plan, execute, and manage complex projects, ensuring successful, on-time, high-quality results
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, inspection requirements, and relevant industry standards
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite products (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in defense contracting
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to program multiple head configurations (a plus)
  • 7+ years in a machining and manufacturing environment
  • Capable of programming complex 3, 4, and 5 axis mills, as well as multi-axis vertical and horizontal lathes
  • Experience leading the creation of ROMs, BOEs, and quoting
  • Program/project management experience (PMP certification a plus)
