Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Bedford, IN

Pay: $45-48/hour

Long term contract to hire.


Overview

Join our team as a Maintenance Supervisor and take a hands-on leadership role in maintaining and optimizing our plant facilities and equipment. Bedford Casting provides aluminum die casting of cylinder blocks, transmission cases, structural components, and EV drive unit housings for the automotive industry. You will directly supervise a team of skilled maintenance professionals, ensuring safety, reliability, and operational excellence using the SPQRCE framework (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment). This role requires strong technical skills, situational judgment, and the ability to foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.


Work Schedule

-    Hours: Monday through Saturday

-    Rotating shifts: Must be able to work all three shifts:

-    1st shift: 6:00 am – 3:00 pm

-    2nd shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm

-    3rd shift: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am

Flexibility to work across all scheduled shifts is required.


What You’ll Do

-    Lead Maintenance Operations: Supervise daily maintenance and repair activities to ensure plant equipment and facilities meet performance and safety standards.

-    Team Leadership: Direct, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians. Assign tasks, monitor performance, and promote cross-training to keep workflows efficient.

-    Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Implement, monitor, and refine preventative maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime.

-    Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Diagnose equipment issues and recommend effective solutions in a timely manner, ensuring schedule and quality goals are met.

-    Standards & Compliance: Uphold all company policies, labor agreements, and safety practices. Champion a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.

-    Collaboration: Regularly work with operations, engineering, and other plant personnel to share information and resolve issues collaboratively.

-    Resource Management: Optimize the use of personnel, materials, and equipment for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

-    Continuous Improvement: Identify and propose process improvements. Lead the implementation of initiatives that enhance operations and safety.

-    Reporting: Conduct routine checks, testing, and assessment of equipment. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.


Qualifications


Education:

-    High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

-    2+ years in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.

-    Experience supervising hourly/represented employees preferred.

Key Skills:

-    Ability to read and interpret machine schematics, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.

-    Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

-    Proficiency in machining processes and equipment troubleshooting.

-    Proven commitment to safe work practices, risk mitigation, and compliance.

-    Effective team leadership and conflict resolution skills.

-    Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
