Material Handler

Job Summary:

The Material Handler supports internal and external customers by efficiently receiving, stocking, delivering, and shipping materials. Responsibilities include operating all material support equipment and performing material support functions (such as receiving, running lines, and shipping) within the assigned operations facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Note: This list is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned.

  • Efficiently locate and pull materials/supplies as listed on production or sales orders, and stock designated production areas to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Accurately verify parts and quantities; complete Bills of Lading (BOLs) for receiving and shipping materials.
  • Operate all assigned material handling equipment (e.g., stand-up/sit-down forklift, combi lift, tugger, lancer) while maintaining all required licenses or certifications.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety rules and established 6S standards.
  • Adhere to safe procedures in the operation of various material support equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures and best practices in associated assembly and testing activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with material handling equipment (forklift, tugger, etc.), inventory management in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, or approved equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months of experience in a similar position
  • Ability to become forklift certified to operate material handling equipment
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Experience using warehouse technology or electronic systems
  • Experience with shipping and confirming shipments

  • Communication Skills: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Can interpret safety and operational procedures and technical/business manuals.
  • Decision-Making: Minimal decision-making authority; follows established instruction and processes.
  • Complexity & Problem Solving: Duties are routine in nature; must be able to understand and follow instructions.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Demands:
  • Frequent: Standing, walking/running, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, visual focus, typing
  • Occasional: Climbing, driving, bending/kneeling, fine and manual dexterity, repetitive upper extremity movement, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.
  • Non-Physical Demands:
  • Occasional: Analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, extended mental activity (e.g., auditing, problem solving, report writing), and writing.
  • Environmental Demands:
  • Occasional: Working alone, frequent task changes, detailed/tedious work, exposure to dust, temperature extremes, or loud noises.
  • Work Schedule:
  • Routine shift hours with infrequent overtime, weekend work, or shift rotation.
  • Demands/Deadlines:
  • Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload; possible exposure to distressed individuals in the immediate work environment.
