Type of Position:
This position will be a long term / ongoing contract to start. There is no fixed end date (this is not a temporary position). Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to direct hire positions over time.

Compensation:
$24.00/hr to $27.00/hr start (depending on experience). Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours. Some overtime is expected to be available in this role.

- This role will have 10 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there would be significantly more PTO.
Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a global leader in industrial automation, specializing in advanced robots and smart factory solutions for industries like automotive, electronics, and healthcare. We are looking for a day shift (1st) Pipefitter to be based out of our Fenton, MI facility. The ideal candidate is a top performer who can work independently, consistently produces high-quality work, and demonstrates leadership in planning and execution. This role involves installing, fitting, and inspecting piping systems and fixtures to meet company and customer specifications while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, and direct work related to piping installation and equipment setup.
- Inspect piping systems and fixtures to ensure conformance with specifications and quality standards.
- Support supervisors in building schedules and estimating labor hours for project completion.
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and job orders; assign and oversee daily work duties.
- Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Analyze and resolve technical and work-related problems; assist team members as needed.
- Motivate and mentor team members to achieve production and quality goals.
- Coordinate with other department leaders to manage project milestones and break points (e.g., cable tray, piping, and fence for teardown).
- Ensure any drawing or design changes are properly documented and communicated to the controls design team.
- Perform hands-on pipefitting work as required.
- Participate in team meetings, material follow-up, and other departmental coordination activities.
- Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality management standards.
Requirements / Qualifications / Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent or GED is required at a minimum.
- Associate degree in a related field or a minimum of 10 years of pipefitting experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Excellent communication skills –both written and verbal – with the ability to prepare reports and procedures.
- Ability to understand relevant governmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of specialty tooling and ability to bend and install various types of piping.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- This is a 1st (day) shift position. This shift starts at 6:00am and will be a minimum of 8 hours.
- There will be occasional overtime, and OT will be compensated at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.
- This position requires regular standing, walking, reaching, and manual dexterity, with occasional climbing, kneeling, or crouching. Candidates must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and possess good vision, including color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
