Buyer – Long-Term Contract

πŸ•’ Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (8:00 AM – 4:30 or 5:00 PM)

πŸ’° Pay Rate: $28–$32/hour

We’re seeking a Buyer to join our high-volume purchasing team in Holland, MI. This is a long-term contract role offering the opportunity to support a busy supply chain operation while gaining valuable hands-on experience in procurement and supplier management. New graduates with a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase direct materials from project bills of material in alignment with Supply Chain Management and corporate strategy.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding material delivery schedules, payment terms, and product discrepancies.
  • Expedite materials and resolve supplier issues as needed.
  • Enter and maintain purchase orders in purchasing systems (Ops Manager, Baan, etc.) and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in resolving invoice and packing slip discrepancies.
  • Foster strong, professional relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Contribute to departmental goals related to working capital, supplier on-time delivery, and material cost savings.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Mentor Associate Buyers on purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Commodity/Strategic Purchasing teams to optimize supply base value.
  • Share and implement best practices across Supply Chain Management teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering preferred).
  • Procurement-related certification (preferred).
  • 1–2 years of purchasing experience, or equivalent internship/academic project experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or project-based environment is preferred.
