Production Supervisor (Group Leader)

Location: Wentzville, MO – Assembly Plant

Schedule: Rotating Shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Duration: 12 Months (Strong Potential for Extension or Direct Hire)

Compensation: $40/hour with PTO and optional benefits.


Position Summary

The Production Supervisor (Group Leader) is responsible for leading and coordinating production teams within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role drives daily operations, ensures safety and quality standards, and leads a team of approximately 40 employees while supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with operational objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise production teams to meet safety, quality, and production targets
  • Enforce safety standards and hold team members accountable within a manufacturing environment
  • Monitor production operations, identifying and resolving issues impacting efficiency, quality, or output
  • Analyze production data, quality metrics, and maintenance inputs to drive improvements
  • Conduct employee coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Manage attendance, timekeeping, and workforce scheduling
  • Maintain accurate daily production and operational documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and maintenance
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost, and process optimization
  • Make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~40 production employees
  • Maintain accountability and performance within a union (UAW) environment
  • Handle difficult conversations and employee relations effectively


Manufacturing Operations

  • Strong understanding of production processes, quality systems, and equipment
  • Ability to identify and resolve production and process issues in real time


Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Analyze data and situations quickly to make confident decisions
  • Drive root cause resolution and continuous improvement


Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate clearly across all levels of the organization
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve operations


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required


Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience required
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a production environment required
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environments preferred


Technical Skills

  • Strong computer skills required (Excel, Word, Kronos or similar systems)
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively
  • Familiarity with production tracking, quality systems, and manufacturing processes


Day-to-Day Environment

  • High-energy, fast-paced automotive assembly environment
  • Work within General Assembly supporting vehicle builds (e.g., trucks and vans)
  • Heavy focus on safety, quality checks, and production accountability
  • Significant time spent on the floor interacting with team members and resolving issues


Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Must be flexible to work all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  • Initial training on 1st shift; assigned shift determined after onboarding
  • Overtime required (~12 hours/week)
  • Rotating schedule may include up to 13 consecutive working days
  • Weekend work required (2 Saturdays on / 1 off rotation)
  • 100% onsite role
