Warehouse Supervisor

Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse employees to ensure departmental objectives are met, especially in safety, quality, productivity, and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counsel and support hourly employees as needed.
  • Recognize positive performance and address areas requiring improvement.
  • Apply Quality Network problem-solving processes to identify and address opportunities, engaging team members in generating solutions.
  • Utilize Workplace Organization (WPO) processes to improve layouts and increase efficiency.
  • Perform daily updates in the Timekeeping System (TKS) to ensure accurate payroll processing.
  • Document problem-solving activities using the A-3 reporting format, following local A-3 guidelines.
  • Lead daily meetings to communicate business performance and facilitate open discussions with employees.
  • Conduct and document weekly safety observation tours within the department.
  • Plan daily workloads in advance to optimize productivity.
  • Support colleagues to maximize shift performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements (National and Local).
  • Enforce shop rules and organizational policies.
  • Carry out daily Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) audit checks.
  • Advance personal skills through participation in the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process.
  • Keep the General Supervisor Shop Committee informed about ongoing and upcoming activities.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Competency in basic mathematics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of area-specific technology.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and management systems.
  • High level of analytical ability, capable of solving complex problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; additional 1-2 years of technical or business school training preferred.
  • Training in skilled trades or equivalent technical training.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
