Product Engineer III – US Defense (Microelectronics)

$45–47/hr + full benefits

100% onsite | Phoenix, AZ

Long-term contract | High-impact defense programs

Join a cutting-edge defense microelectronics team where your expertise directly supports mission-critical technology used in advanced military systems. As a Product Engineer III, you’ll play a central role across the full manufacturing lifecycle—from New Product Introduction (NPI) through sustainment and End-of-Life (EOL)—ensuring high-reliability components meet stringent military and customer requirements. This is a highly visible, cross-functional role ideal for engineers who enjoy bridging design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams while bringing complex products successfully into production.

What You’ll Do

Own production documentation & MIL-SPEC qualification

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive production documentation across the full manufacturing lifecycle
  • Create and control technical documentation including test plans, manufacturing plans, qualification documents, procedures, and supporting technical artifacts
  • Support product qualification activities in accordance with applicable military specifications (MIL-SPEC) and customer requirements
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, traceability, and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle

Drive lifecycle success from NPI to EOL

  • Lead End-of-Life (EOL) planning and sustainment strategies for mature products
  • Manage product structures, assembly flows, and data within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Support NPI launches, manufacturing readiness, and transition to production
  • Maintain configuration and documentation updates across lifecycle phases

Be the technical bridge across teams

  • Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and program stakeholders
  • Track products through build, test, qualification, and delivery milestones
  • Support customer interactions and technical status updates
  • Resolve product and process issues using structured problem-solving

Support systems-level decisions & program execution

  • Contribute to trade studies, needs analysis, and risk management
  • Balance performance, cost, schedule, reliability, and producibility considerations
  • Support planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical, Materials, Computer Engineering/Science, or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years in semiconductor, microelectronics, or high-reliability manufacturing
  • Strong experience with PLM tools and lifecycle data management
  • Proven technical documentation expertise across manufacturing and qualification
  • Background in manufacturing readiness, NPI, and sustainment environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex, regulated programs

Nice to Have: Oracle/Agile PLM, MBSE exposure, Jira/Confluence/Jama, lab/test equipment familiarity, and defense/aerospace or MIL-SPEC qualification experience.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Ownership of production documentation across the full lifecycle
  • Direct impact on defense-grade microelectronics programs
  • End-to-end lifecycle responsibility (NPI → production → sustainment → EOL)
  • Collaborative, engineering-driven environment with long-term stability and benefits

Candidate Requirements:

This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a secret security clearance (please note, clearance isn’t required to start). Secret Clearance requires US Citizenship (and thus, that’s a requirement in this role). Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) are NOT eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B or TN visas are also not eligible for this role. This company is NOT open to corp2corp (c2c) or corp2hire (c2h). Offer may be contingent upon passing a background check and a drug screen (drug screen would include Cannabis).
