Job Title: Illustrator / Graphic Artist
Location: Milford, MI
Pay Rate: $35-45/hr
Contract: 3-6 months with potential for extension

Position Overview
This role will produce high-quality technical illustrations, graphics, and visual content used in military documentation, training materials, presentations, and marketing deliverables, as well as internal and external GM communications.
The ideal candidate has strong illustration skills, experience working from engineering or technical inputs, and the ability to adapt visual styles to meet both defense and commercial automotive standards.
Key Responsibilities
Defense / Military Program Support
- Create detailed technical illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and visual assets for military platforms and systems
- Support development of IETMs, technical manuals, training materials, and program documentation
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical data to create accurate visual representations
- Ensure graphics comply with military standards, specifications, and branding guidelines
- Collaborate with engineers, technical writers, and program managers to support defense deliverables
General Motors Commercial Support
- Design graphics and illustrations for presentations, reports, internal communications, and marketing materials
- Support GM product, engineering, and corporate initiatives with visual storytelling and data visualization
- Maintain consistency with GM brand standards and visual guidelines
General Duties
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines across defense and commercial programs
- Revise artwork based on stakeholder feedback and technical updates
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries and version control
- Stay current on illustration tools, techniques, and industry standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, Visual Communications, or related field
- 3+ years of professional illustration or graphic design experience (technical or industrial preferred)
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Strong ability to translate technical information into clear, accurate visuals
- Experience working with engineering drawings, schematics, or CAD references
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting military or defense programs
- Familiarity with technical publications, IETMs, or military documentation standards
- Experience working in automotive, manufacturing, or engineering environments
- Ability to obtain or currently hold a U.S. security clearance (if required)
Additional Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work on defense-related programs
- Willingness to work onsite in Milford, MI (hybrid flexibility may be considered)
