Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer II to support casting and machining operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment in Saginaw, MI. This role will focus on identifying and resolving manufacturing quality issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting daily production operations through structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong engineering foundation, experience in manufacturing or automotive environments, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support quality engineering initiatives across casting and machining operations
- Investigate production and process-related quality concerns
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Partner closely with manufacturing, production, and engineering teams to improve operational quality and efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on process performance and defect reduction
- Participate in daily plant floor support activities and troubleshooting
- Document quality findings, corrective actions, and process improvements
- Support internal audits and compliance with quality standards and procedures
- Assist with production readiness and ongoing quality assurance activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of engineering or quality experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience applying structured root cause analysis methodologies
- Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented manufacturing environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting casting and/or machining operations
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Background in high-volume production environments
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and quality systems
Additional Information
- Initial training will take place on 1st shift
- This role primarily supports 2nd shift operations, with potential future support for 3rd shift as business needs evolve
- Overtime and weekend support are expected as needed
