Type of Position:
Contract to hire role (typically 6 to 8 months to convert to direct hire)
Candidate Requirements:

Job Location:
Aiken, SC (on site role).
Compensation:
$25.59/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

- Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) – Benefits begin 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
- No PTO when on contract (but there would be significant PTO in going direct hire). Unpaid time off is permitted.
Overview:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor to hire CNC Machine Operators for our facility in Aiken, SC. This role involves machining, fabricating, and processing parts while supporting department and plant goals for cost, quality, delivery, safety, and performance. Positions are available on multiple shifts (2nd shift and our weekend shift on 1st and 2nd shift).
Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment with CNC controllers, including setting machine controls, measuring and loading tools, fixtures, and programs.
- Load and unload parts onto machines and fixtures from pallets or containers.
- Use hand tools, ratchets, air tools, and other devices to secure parts and fixtures.
- Machine parts to blueprint specifications; check parts against quality requirements.
- Troubleshoot issues and recommend or implement corrective actions.
- Move parts, materials, containers, and fixtures using hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts.
- Complete necessary paperwork for work orders, labor and time reporting, quality records, and other reporting requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Train others as needed.
- Perform other related duties as appropriate for the position
Skills, Experience, Education Required:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating CNC machine-controlled equipment in a metal cutting or metalworking manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in shop math, blueprint reading, and calculating dimensions.
- Skilled in using gauges and measuring tools to verify part quality.
- Physically able to reach up to 50 inches, lift up to 30 pounds, and apply 30 pounds of torque using ratchets.
- Ability to understand work orders, machine controls and settings, fixtures and tool requirements, and make appropriate adjustments.
- Familiarity with safety policies, procedures, and machine features.
- Ability to operate hoists, pallet jacks, and forklifts (forklift operation requires passing a certification test and the ability to step up 14 inches).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Good time management and planning abilities.
Skills, Experience, Education Preferred:
- 2-year Machine Tool Technology Degree.
- 4+ years’ experience setting up and operating CNC Mills, Lathes, or presses.
- 2+ years’ experience with 3-axis CNC machines (such as Mazaks, Haas, Makino, or Onsrud).
- 2+ years’ experience with 5-axis CNC machines (such as Parpas, Cincinnati, Mitsubishi, or Yama Seiki).
- 2+ years’ experience with water jet or laser cutting CNC machines.
Work Environment:
- We have openings on the following shifts: 2nd shift weekday (Monday to Thursday – 10 hour shift – 3:15pm to 1:45am), 1st shift weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 12 shift hour shift – 5:00am to 5:30pm), 2nd shift weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 12 shift hour shift – 5:00pm to 5:30am).
- There may be occasional overtime in this role. OT will be paid at 1.5x.
