Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: New Hudson, MI

Pay Rate: $50–$60/hour

Schedule: Full-time | Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support vehicle and product development through system design, analysis, and testing. This role works cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop optimized designs, solve technical challenges, and ensure high-quality product performance.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Design and develop vehicle systems and mechanical components
  • Create system physics models and perform performance characterization
  • Develop CAD concepts, component designs, and packaging layouts
  • Perform linear-static Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize designs
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Support design validation through DVP&R planning, execution, and reporting
  • Present project updates and technical findings to internal stakeholders

Project & Manufacturing Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve product and customer issues using analytical and CAE methods
  • Develop technical specifications and testing procedures
  • Support manufacturing teams by addressing engineering questions and ECRs
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives across design and production

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or related field
  • Strong experience with parametric 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred)
  • Proficiency with FEA tools (ANSYS or similar)
  • Experience using Windchill or similar PLM systems
  • Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
  • Experience with:
  • Engineering drawings and detailing
  • Sheet metal and structural component design
  • Full vehicle systems and subsystem integration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
